Team Member Spotlight: Valerie Dolejsi, Vice President of Product Management

We’ve dedicated ourselves to improving the lives of business travelers but want to show off the people who help make that happen. On a regular basis, we’ll be doing a Q&A with one of our amazing team members to showcase the folks behind the scenes of Hotel Engine.

Valerie Dolejsi joined us in 2020 as the Vice President of Product Management. Valerie is always working to improve processes while leading her Product team with high energy, humor, and empathy. So, let’s get to know Valerie!

Where are you from?

Flyover country!

Do you have a nickname at work?

Most people call me Val.

What’s your favorite part about your team?

The genuine lack of ego on both the product and engineering teams when working through problems. We have discussions and disagreements about what the right path forward is, but we do so with the goal of making progress in the best way possible.

What’s your spirit animal and why?

Honey Badger.

What do you love about working for Hotel Engine?

The energy and drive to keep growing and improving every day.

What do you think is unique about working at Hotel Engine?

The same as my previous answer. This is an accountable and energy-driven team that loves what they do!

What does an average day at Hotel Engine look like for you?

One of the things I like most about working at Hotel Engine is that there is no such thing as an average day! Whether it be reviewing detailed product performance metrics to putting together our strategic product initiatives for 2021, every day brings something new and interesting.

What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?

Read as much as I can. I love all different genres, and have read everything from Pandora’s Star and Heart of Darkness to the entire Twilight series.

Let’s hear it for your humble brag!

I can (and have on more than one occasion) completed a sentence diagram for the entire Declaration of Independence.

What’s your favorite thing about living in Colorado?

The ability to get to amazing hiking spots in less than an hour, while still living in a city.
