Hotel Engine Aids Hurricane Relief Efforts With Donations & Savings On Lodging

The hotel booking platform helps more than 1,000 individuals find lodging, saving them $100K+, and donates $10K+ to American Red Cross for Hurricane Harvey and Irma assistance.

DENVER (September 25, 2017) – After two major hurricanes, Harvey and Irma, devastated our country Denver-based hotel booking platform, Hotel Engine, designed a program to provide discounted lodging and help offset disaster relief costs for those impacted by the storm.

Through the program, every Hotel Engine booking made within the state of Florida and a 300-mile radius of Houston, TX, generated a 2% donation to the American Red Cross. More than 1,386 rooms were booked through those efforts, saving users nearly $100,000.

“After a disaster, lodging and shelter is a critical thing people need to survive and to feel safe,” said Elia Wallen, founder and CEO of Hotel Engine. “Providing lodging is what we do, so it’s a natural way we could support the people in need.”

The bookings resulted in a $10,181.33 donation, which was presented as a check to the American Red Cross today.

“I just want to thank you all for making a positive impact when it’s needed most during these natural disasters,” said Jeff Riley, Chief Development Officer for the American Red Cross-Colorado Chapter. “It’s very important that we act as humanitarians when we should and I salute all of you, in particular, your leadership team, for helping us do that.”

Not only did Hotel Engine provide deep savings on an average three-night stay, 3,625 room nights in total, but the company also helped victims find the lodging they needed to get through the storms.
